MJ singleton photo

MJ Singleton is a 22-year-old Two-Spirit artist from Migisi Sahgaigan (Eagle Lake) First Nation in Northwestern Ontario, Treaty 3 territory. They are currently attending the University of Toronto Mississauga, where they are double majoring in Psychology and Criminology. MJ has been actively involved in art and mural projects across both the UTM and St. George campuses.

Through these opportunities, they have gained experience working with large-scale vinyl installations, acrylic murals, and digital illustration. A self-taught artist, MJ draws inspiration from woodland art styles that originated in Anishinaabe territory. Their work is a way to share the knowledge they uphold as an Anishinaabe person while also weaving in their experiences of moving to and creating within an urban environment. Outside of illustration, MJ enjoys jingle dress dancing, sewing, beading, and painting.
